Happy new year guys!

until then it's already 2011 when i arrive seattle and probably won't have time to update anything...
so i'll wish you a happy new year now :)

my flight is at 11pm. i'll count down first on plane and when i arrive seattle it's still December 31st 2010
so i'll count down again... haha awesome!
i'll probably meet with Alan later

overall... i think i have a great time during these 11 days in Taiwan
though a bit too busy and i almost forget what i did on the first few days...
met with family and friends

i might need to rethink about some of my ideas of what Taiwan means for me...
and what Seattle means for me...

so i've probably met all my cousins already... lol
went clubbing yesterday with my high school friend and my brother
it's our celebration for Christmas! :D
it's crowded though... there're too much people... but we still made it into the dance floor :D

wow, it turns out to be that i don't have time at all!!

personally i think Seattle is way better than Taichung 

but my brother keeps telling me that Taiwan is still better than USA haha

back to taiwan- Chapter 3

ah!! such a long trip!
i was awake for about 36 hours traveling with a huge heavy luggage and two big carry on bags D:
first i took bus to the tunnel
then i took the link (the light rail) to airport
and then walked for... at least ten minutes to the airline check-in place
security check was a hassle!
then it was a 13 hours flight... my ass hurt
finally it's taiwan but the trip wasn't over yet
then i took a bus to HSR station
and took HSR to Taichung and finally mom and godmother came....

so the sky is unusually pale blue and it's foggy all over the place
and it's hot!! and humid that's what i first noticed when i got off the plane... so humid....

so i got this very strange feeling when i got home...
it's like i'm familiar with everything here but... it's just not the old feeling...
and it's even stranger when i saw my brother... and extremely weird when i heard he spoke
"what the... why does he have the same voice with me??"

but we got along soon! we talked and talked and talked!!

i just woke up and it's only 7 am... blame jet lag...

still haven't plan for any activity for my 11 days (now 10 days) in taiwan!
but i think i'm starting to get that old feeling back now! that "home sweet home" feeling! :D

total lunar eclipse!

you guys are so lucky!!

it's a total lunar eclipse and it's visible throughout the whole nation!!

the partial eclipse will start at about 10:30 pm and the total eclipse will start at 11:40 pm (PST)

the moon is going to turn RED!

i have never seen one total lunar eclipse or total solar eclipse before :(

and i'm going to miss this one cuz i'm flying back to Taiwan tomorrow at 1 am...

i promise to myself, i'm going to see at least one total solar eclipse and one total lunar eclipse!

almost to the end of chapter 2

as i lost my count of "chapters" of my college life, i decided to just simply it...
when i feel like ending a chapter i'll do it and to start a new chapter i'll do it
even to end the whole story or to start a new story, i'll do it :D

so autumn quarter had ended and it was awesome!!
in chapter 2, i met some great people and i hope we'll still keep in touch in the future!
i learned a lot of stuff and changed a lot!?

and i had asked some people, "what do you think about your 2010?"
for me, 2010 is CHANGE
my life now is totally different from the one i had 3 months ago
and wow just three months!!?

i think i'll start my chapter 3 tomorrow
i'll call it "departure"

now i'm at frances's apartment
thanks a lot frances!! and tomorrow night at about 9 i'll take bus and light rail with frances's brother to the airport
and fly back to Taiwan

it's breath-taking!!
it's caused by the ice crystals in the sky similar to a rainbow but they're not the same thing!
and this was what i said,

finally

done with finals this morning

i woke up like 6:45 am and it's a pain in the ass!!!

i felt so unreal this morning (i felt like breaking away from reality)

like i had been extremely depressed for the whole two or three days and didn't really have a real conversation with anyone...

but it all changed after the final!!!! XD 

my emotion fluctuated so much.... i think i'm a bit crazy now...

but extremely happy as well! cuz i was talking to people and i went shopping with frances this afternoon 

in safeway and downtown

and tiff and her friends visited my room today

tiff is going to take care of my plant for the winter break 

and one of her friend is moving to mercer next quarter so i showed her my room and if felt like a hotel person you know

"and here you have a huge closet.... and a desk with light...."

oh and i saw this huge moon halo!! this is the best i have ever seen! i remembered i did see one in Taiwan but it's a partial halo

in Seattle everything is complete!!! hahaha

i'm so depressed now :C
getting more and more depressed day after day...
arrgh.... the same old feeling of "no one likes me"... it's haunting me again...
i hate depression...
and it's impossible to cheer up yourself
the only way to get through it is
shut your door and put on your headphone and listen to sad songs

sigh...

probably it is the consequence of not going to workout for more than a week...?
i dunno or it's just a cycle of highs and lows...?

oh and i suddenly felt like "back to high school" last night
it's been so long i haven't felt like "in trouble" :D
when your heart beats faster and legs tremble!

when i was lying on my bed ready to sleep last night
i found out that i might have some degree of SAD, or social anxiety disorder
of course not to the degree of avoiding any occasions or sweating in front of people

1. i think i worry way too much about how people view me... i always feel embarrassed...
2. and i always think way too much about what i should do or say... cuz i don't want to offense or turn off any conversation...
3. if people do say bad things about me or disapprove me in any manner, i'll think about it for the whole day... i can even think about it for days... saying to myself, "daniel, never do that again, never!"

anyway, i know that i do enjoy time alone doing all stuff by myself etc
but i always imagine myself as a guy with a group of good friends talking all day long
clearly, my expectation and my situation disagree greatly...
but i'm working hard on transforming...

and i found something really interesting from the article about SAD in wikipedia you might want to take a look

so i actually found out that i can request extension on the HW i missed!
yay! i got an 87-ish on that assignment :)

and i'm feeling much better thou i think i kinda screw up my physics again....
but i think i'll do better than the last one

um.. so i haven't been blogging and flickring as you can see...
we're doing Taylor's series in math and fluids in physics and buffers in chem
and a lot of HW to do

so after my thursday physics midterm, there's this floor dance party
in our little floor lounge neatly decorated by us :) it's fun!

i'll get through it this weekend i think!

bad tuesday bad tuesday...

i didn't finish my math midterm :(
i know how to do them i just need more time :(
i have been feeling very depressed after the exam...

maybe take a walk in downtown and go shop for food might feel better!?
so as scheduled, i went to downtown to get my certification from Taiwanese government
and then i went to safeway and shopped for food and stuff
and then i went to workout

i wasn't feeling better :/

and i spent the whole night surfing and surfing the Internet...
and forgot to do physics HW which is due on 11 pm....
so i got like 51% on that HW :((

the f**k!?

still have physics and math and chem to do (duh...)
physics midterm this thursday...
AHHH! it's going to be an extremely busy week!!

i dun remember i did well on any of the midterms :(
except chem! oh yes... chem makes me feel much much better... (got 100% on my first chem midterm ;))
but not for math or physics :(

hope my overall grade won't look bad though i get good grades on HW and others...

i'll go to sleep then maybe i'll feel better tomorrow? hope so....

i'm so tired yesterday, i even ordered a "hot ice tea"
got back to my room and slept for almost 11 hours after a very tiring day of shopping and touring

thanksgiving

i have been going to bed late and waking up very late these days...
it's the third day of the six-days holiday
my dorm is so empty and quiet, everyone well most of them had already gone home
dorm dining and terry front desk aren't opened til tmr :(
can't get my things ordered on amazon few days ago

oh i forgot to tell u that i ordered 2 things from amazon
1. gyroscope- lol cuz i'm taking angular momentum now in physics and i really wanna play with it
2. drinking bird- go google it if u have no idea what i'm talking about, it's really cool!!
i'll show them to you when i get them from the front desk few days later.

so i went to Chinatown with Frances yesterday to shop for foods
i found some food i like and decided to buy them and put them in my food storage :D
and had dinner at Frances's apartment
we had noodles and rice
oh and Grace, my high school friend, came all the way from CA to Seattle
and i'm staying at the apartment tonight and we're going shopping tomorrow morning like 5 am @@

and it's not that cold outside now, snows are melting but roads still slippery
oh and the temperature during wednesday midnight broke the low temp record in Seattle
it's like -10 degree celsius
and this is my first time in seattle... lucky me...

so as you have seen my flickr photos are really adding up these days, i still have like over 20 of them to upload :/ very stressful...

i can't believe this

classes got cancelled for tomorrow!!

so basically i went to class only one day for the whole week!

one snow fall = 2 day-offs + 4 holidays = WOW

overall,
I had so much fun and met so many new people in the snow :)
playing in the snow sure is a great way to get socialized lol
and i took 489 photos hahaha!!

and classes are cancelled for tuesday! that means i dun have to go to school for math midterm! it's postponed to next tuesday! :D

if it's "snowy" on Sunday, then Monday would be out of the scale!

i woke up at 8 am something and i have no idea why i was waking but so early
i checked the weather through my window and I WAS AMAZED!
it's snowing and the roof, the trees are all white :D

i dressed up throwing everything everywhere and grabbed my camera and rushed out of the building!

snap snap snap, 100 photos already!

so i started my extremely snowy Monday....

i spent my 3 hours of leisure morning having breakfast walking around taking pictures...
so later i went to class and it became more and more snowy and windy

chem class was cancelled

inches of snow is still falling from the sky and the wind is getting much stronger!

this is my FIRST SNOW STORM in my life!

for now the wind is blowing up to 10-15m/s
and it's -5 degree celsius and windchill down to -9 degree celsius!!

it's all FROZEN UP literally
the street is so slippery

and i can hear people screaming and laughing outside from my room haha
they're having a lot of fun!

i'll have snow ball fight later with friends so excited!!

yup, it's snowing

so i woke up this noon at 1 by my alarm
"oh man, i'll just sleep for another hour. i set a 2 pm alarm last night anyway"
but as i flip through my iphone home pages
i saw Tiffany's text
"SNOW ><"

i immediately jumped off my bed (that wasn't true of course)
and looked out my window...
NO WAY! it looks like snowing

so i dressed up and grabbed my camera and keys
and ran out of building!!

it's not really snowing though
ice droplets are falling from sky!

and i started my snowy Sunday :)

it was really snowing about an hour ago, but it's not snowing now

this week

it's so busy this week!
and i'm extremely tired! full of works and fun!

on Thursday i went to my first football game :)
thanks tiff!
it was amazing! and Huskies won UCLA :D 24 to 7
i took a lot of photos i'll upload them later this weekend

and um there's a good chance of snow this weekend and early next week!
i'm so excited!! i'll be looking out the window and if it snows i'll run out of my room

so i went to downtown for a very complicating business (verifying your enrollment in school to Taiwanese government is not that easy as you thought @@)
but the good part is i got a chance to see another part of downtown seattle :D

Impressive!

What happens when an airplane passes between you and the moon and thin clouds are rushing through the sky?

Right before I went to lab this night I walked through the Red Square and it is windy real windy!!
I raised my head and saw a huge shadow flew over the sky! It's the shadow of an airplane cast on the clouds! It's like the hugest projector!
Well I would say solar eclipses are much more magnificent but shadow of a plane on the clouds is rare as well!

Anyway, it extremely windy out now and street light flickers
Light in room flickers as well hope we won't get out of power :/

so i watched two movies today
Megamind
and Paranormal Activity 2

Megamind is like the usually animation film, cute! and funny :)

Paranormal activity 2 is a very interesting film! sometimes i got scared when something suddenly popped out! it's just the usually ghosts and possession thing.

oh and btw, i love to listen to C89.5 dance music online radio
so i just pledged $20 :)
to keep them alive! dance music rocks :D

there're air-hocky, table soccer, pool, video games, ceramic making (which kinda surprised me), and a darkroom.
and we went to north campus for ice-cream!
i brought my camera with me but didn't really take photos... like less than 10...
i feel so sorry my camera is so lonely lately....

so how's life? have a great day/night depending on where you live :)

oh oh and i'm planing to get my first haircut in the US tmr!! haha i'm going to a barbershop on the ave
