Still busy

So I've been pretty well for the week. Healthy body, finishing school work.
Oh and I updated my flickr, check it out if your interested.

So I have been waking up earlier than I am supposed to get out of bed recently which is super weird.
Like on Monday and Wednesday (today), I'm supposed to get out of bed at 11:30. It's also when my alarm is going off. But for 2 days, I woke up at early 10. Like 10:15.
And I felt incredibly clear and energetic. But I convinced myself that I still need more sleep so I sleep till 11:30.

Just finished my chem midterm. I think I did pretty well. Though I answered some of the question with little ambiguity.
Math quiz was ok but I don't think I did really well on it.

So 2 weeks left till the end of the quarter. :D can't wait for this busy quarter to end, I want my life back!!! I plan to go workout and take photos and upload them on Flickr on a weekly basis
And I really have find a research lab ASAP!!

Hmmm so yeh I'm still pretty busy with my school work.

Cya!

Thanksgiving break!

So as you know it (or you might not know it), I went to salt lake city with Frances and her friend Mandy.
and this is a super super long post. hope you'll enjoy it.

Let's start at Wednesday when my thanksgiving break has started.
So I was already done with packing. I didn't forget anything which is kinda amazing.
So after my last class on Wednesday, I grabbed my stuff and called a cab.
My fist attempt failed completely. This was what had happened:

"Hello, emmmm... Hummmm... So my address is 3801.... Umm... at Brooklyn ave..."
And then the yellow cab person just said something I did not understand.
And I said, "what?"
And they hung up the phone.
I was speechless.

And my second attempt worked awesomely.

"Hello. I'm from University of Washington and I am going the Seattle tacoma airport."
Then they asked me which dorm do I live in.
And I said, "Stevens court"
"which building?"
Wow they really do know a lot around the UW area!
So I said, "B"
"ok, sir. There will be a cab picking you up in 20 minutes."
"ok thank you."

When the cab arrived, the yellow cab called me but I completely missed the call. But anyway, as soon as I saw the missed call on my phone I quickly grabbed my stuff and ran outside and hey, the cab was just right in front of the exit way!
Then I chatted a bit with the driver then arrived airport.
I checked in with the delta airline self check in machine which is incredibly convenient. And I check in my luggage. went through security check which is, as usual, hideous. Shoes off, jacket off, things in pocket out... blah blah blah
Then I met up with Frances and Mandy.
I grabbed a sandwich at the food court, I guess it wasn't late enough because everytime when I was flying back to Taiwan the food courts and stores were all closed, it's like a ghost town. But that night was as lively as a market.

Then we boarded onto the plane and had a 2 hours flight which is nothing comparing to my usual 10 hours flight between Seattle and Taiwan.

It was incredibly amazing how I met Martin on the flight. (i am not even sure if i spelled the name correctly... sorry about that)
So Martin, he is a bioengineerer. He took the same English class with me last winter. And I believe I saw him in many other classes too. And once I was hanging out and having dinner with my roommates, he was with us too. So I chatted with him and he was going home for the thanksgiving. He suggested several things to do in Salt lake city and yeh we talked about all the required classes for bioengineering.
Super amazing ah? It's like destiny or something (nah, it's just we're in the same major). Well hopefully I will see him soon sometime in the future.

When we arrived salt lake city, we took the hotel's shuttle and got to the hotel (duh)
The driver was really nice. He drove and showed us around the city.

The hotel was pretty decent. there's this covered up pool just beside the lobby which grabbed my attention.
it's like the typical motels with a pool you see in the movies. pretty nice.

we went out to the nearest convenience store called Maverik and bought some necessities and i got a salad. the night we arrived was thanksgiving eve so there was literally no one on the street. like no one!!
we walked around and took some photos and i wasn't even worried about my camera getting stolen.
that's wednesday.

woke up at around 1 pm thursday. haha we all woke up super late. anyway, we went out and walked around the city. we went to Temple square and it's beautiful.
the street was kind of empty since it's thanksgiving day, so it's not surprising.
so there's a super huge building in the Temple square which i think it's the temple itself.
it totally reminded me of a video game i used to play with my brother and it felt just like i was the character in the game walking in a town with a huge castle or whatever.
anyway, we had dinner at a traditional American restaurant. i had a steak and i liked it. super American. love it.
that's thursday.

and woke up at around 8 am friday cuz guess what? it's Black Friday :D
shopping!
we went to a nearby shopping mall called the Gateway. it's a really beautiful place with all kinds of stores.
shopped shopped and shopped.
i got 40% off on 2 Hollister shirts. got 50 % off on a beanie. got 50 % off on a puffy vest and a cap. a leather protective spray for my boots. 30% off on 2 buy-one-get-one-free t-shirts. 30% off on a Nyan-cat pin badge.
the t-shirts i got was totally pure awesomeness. one is LMFAO shuffle t-shirt and the other one is deadmau5 t-shirt!!! LOVE them! and of course the nyan-cat pin badge was pure awesomeness as well.
The awesomeness is found in a store called Hot Topic. i also found the Bacon Strips t-shirt in that store (if you watch Epic Meal time then you know what i'm talking about).

but but but… i didn't get a rain jacket :( didn't see the one i like… so i'll have to get one here in Seattle sometime later D:
anyway, I had a wonderful day shopping.
we watched a movie when we're back at the hotel room. it's called Ladda Land (陰地) which is kinda scary and really sad.
that's Friday.

then woke up today at 8 something took a shower and grabbed my stuff and went to the airport.
checked in, boarded.
sat at 21E which is the the middle of two other guys.

took a cab with Frances back to U District and now i'm back to my room.
I opened the main door and saw my roommates playing video game at the living room and they're all dressed up for the game this evening called Apple cup. (i'll just skip the explaining for Apple cup. you can go look online if you don't know what's the Apple cup)

"hey, Daniel. you're back"
"yeh"
….
"are you guys going to the game?"
"…yeh."
"oh, alright. have fun."

Somehow, I felt distant from them… yeh… sad :/
i walked into my room
and saw my empty desk and then looked at the to-do lists.

"11/28 BIO reading quiz
11/29 BIO reading quiz
11/29 BIO pre-lab 8
11/29 BIO practice exam 8
11/30 BIO reading quiz
11/30 BIO practice exam grade
12/2 BIO reading quiz
11/30 MATH 3.7
11/30 MATH 3.8
11/30 MATH 4.1
11/30 MATH 4.2"

I sighed and knew it's time to get back to work.

but first i have to blog about all of this :D

Even though we didn't really went to a lot of places in Salt lake city, but hey! I still relaxed and had fun.
i have to say it's really great to take a break from my routine life.
i'll probably be staying at my room for the whole thanksgiving break doing homework and nothing if i didn't go to the trip with Frances! That would be very very sad.

ok time to ummm… go back… to work?
yeh… i'll start with math probably… math really helps me concentrate.

Nov 23, 2011

wednesday

yup another busy week
have been doing so much reading and homework

one of my roommates' birthday is coming up so i decided to buy a birthday card and a balloon for him.
the card is cute. it says something like "If you're expecting us to make a big fuss over your birthday" and then inside the card it says something like "you've opened the right card"
i told my other roommates to sign on the envelope of the card and when he went to bed, i quietly pushed the card into his room under the door and i tied the balloon onto the door knob so he'll see it as soon as he opens the door tomorrow morning.

i believe little things like this that make people happy (as simple as being recognized or cared about) is the best gift for birthday or anything.

i hope he'll have a great day and a great thanksgiving (plus his birthday)!

so i went to Bellevue with Frances and her friend tonight. we went shopping... well more like window shopping i guess cuz i bought barely nothing but i've made up my Black Friday shopping list when i walked around and thought about what i need :D

i'm going to buy a North Face rain jacket. my current rain jacket was bought more than 4 years ago and it sucks a lot because it's too small.
and probably that's it. not much in great need. yeh....

:D going to Salt lake city tomorrow it's going to be fun!! i've already packed up my luggage and i'm ready to go! it's going to snow there which is kinda exciting.

Nov 20, 2011

sunday night

had dinner at china town and did some grocery shopping at the asian market
studying now...
have midterm tomorrow.

and when i was like studying and all of the sudden, i thought about "what will happen after I die"
and i totally got depressed....

it's unavoidable and yeh... it's like a long sleep, not long but an eternal sleep
scary!

the world will just go on with one more body decomposing. yup that's death.

and i searched a bit on the web for some insights about death
and there're some promising technology that can possibly avoid death almost completely
and here is one particular question i came up if the technology becomes available:
-if death is avoidable, then what is the meaning of life?
you see, if there's no death then what is life?
we'll have to come up with a completely different definition for life if we're able to avoid death.

in biological sense,
since death is avoidable, all alleles will remain in the population forever
maybe one day, life will be define as "an introduction of new alleles into a population"?

shiny and crispy

it's below 0 outside right now!
when i was back to my room, my thermometer was flickering its "ice alert" indicator.
and yup, on my way back to my room, i saw shiny leaves on the ground it's like you put glitter on the leaves... lol.
and they are crispy when you step on them.
the surface of cars are shiny too.

there's like glitter everywhere! so beautiful!

anyway, i had a wonderful day (when i say wonderful, it means more than awesome)
woke up early at 9... tired... but i had a lot of fun hanging out with my photo club buddies
we walked from around Pioneer square to the sculpture park and took photos along our way!
so awesome!

studied a bit when i was back from the outing

and got to hangout with Frances and her friend tonight
first of all, thanks for being 21, Frances ;)
and we did some hookah as well
later we played card games at Frances's place with her housemates.
i learned how to play shithead :D

omg i'm so tired now! i wanna do some math study but i don't think i can concentrate...
so happy now but tired... and i smell like watermelon and jasmine and grape LOL

gotta love the weekend!

Nov 18, 2011

it's hailing outside! is it going to snow later!?

it hails when it's not cold enough for snow
so if it gets cold enough tonight, we might expect some snow tonight.

it's Friday and i'm done with classes yay... but not much to do tonight... probably head back into studying... ummm... on saturday i'm going to downtown with photo club buddies to take some photos

oh oh and JDong, our president of club, "scolded" me because i haven't been taking a lot of photos... haha i guess i'm really not active recently... haven't been on flickr for months.... i should get back asap!!

k... cya...

just wanna show ya something :D

well, i'm going to bed soon!

oh oh oh wait, before i show you something. the weather forecast said it might snow sometime tonight through the whole Friday. excited!! the snow last year here in Seattle was huge!!! dunno about this year but we'll see! it's only like 3 degree celsius outside right now!! it's freezing cold!!

anyway, we're studying chiral molecules and stuff
so i made these cute simple carbon molecules with marshmallow and candies and paper clips LOL
so apparently the fugly molecules are not enantiomers; they're actually the same molecule

my hands are covering up the marshmallows...
ok i'm going to bed now... cya!

Nov 17, 2011

it's almost friday!

still really busy this week
i can't believe what i saw on my calendar... it's like all occupied...

some recaps...
so I handed in my assignment for bioengineering class tuesday, had chem quiz the same day
i think i did pretty well on both of them.
went to U village with Frances for dinner and AT&T stuff
well, i ended up calling the customer service when i'm back to my room. and got all my problems solved! Great thanks to the AT&T people! and thank you Frances for helping me sorting out the problem.
Wednesday, I had a math quiz which i think i nailed it and had my chem midterm back which i stupidly took back on tuesday quiz section; we're not supposed to take it back till Wednesday. i got 95 and the average is 58? or 68? i forgot. so yeh i'm really satisfied with my organic chemistry grade.
met with Melvin wednesday evening.
thursday, had a tiny quiz for bioengineering class and i am pretty sure that i nailed the quiz as well.
i picked up my bioengineering t-shirt, it looks awesome :)
i'm going to an information session about scholarship later at 16:30
and going to meet up with photography club buddies after the information session
hopefully, i'll be studying when i'm back to dorm tonight haha
i have biology midterm next monday.

generally, i think my work load is going to go down in the next few days. Gotta thank Thanksgiving holidays. Hopefully, i'm not going to be this busy next week.

Nov 15, 2011

it's not even finals week yet

and i'm staying up whole night and day

so i woke up today with crappy stomach ache omg.... it's so awful....
i ended up going to toilet 4 times today....

went to Shoreline today and studied Bible with Melvin (i know. i should have move it to some other day later...)
people in the church were super nice.
i had dinner there
we talked and i learned more about him.
and on our way back to UW, it was hailing in Shoreline!! so many ice falling from the sky!!

anyway, i just finished my bioengineering paper and it's 04:23 am in the morning and i'm going to class at 8:30 am and hand in the paper...

i dunno if i can do it or not with my super awful stomach and exhausted body....

still have so much to do this week... sigh... such a "great" way to start my week and.... sophomore year... D:

Nov 14, 2011

66!? D:

The mean score for biology midterm is 57 and I got a 66.
Which is above the average but I think it's the worst score I got in UW
I'm not happy.

Field trip :D

Woke up super super early this morning at 6:30 am and felt like staying longer in my bed
I was like you have to get out of the bed! So I eventually went to take a shower at 6:40

I already had my bags (one for stuff and one for camera) and clothes prepared so I just dressed up, wore my contact lens, and got my camera battery from the charger. I also had my breakfast in the frig already. So I warmed up the burger with microwave, ate it and had a yogurt. And I put the left over from the dinner at Tofu house last night into a bag. This will be my lunch.
I'm ready to go! So I got to the meeting place, it's just behind the physics buildings, exactly on 8:00 am
Most people were already there.
We waited for a bit and here she came, our field trip leader. Her name is Camila. She's doing research on the site we're going to.

11 people including the Camila got on to the van and then it's a more than 2 hour drive...
Super far away!

Let me show you the site is...
As you can see it's close to the pacific ocean (actually, not close, but more like beside). it's really wet over there because it's the windward side of the mountain thus receiving moisture from the Pacific ocean.

As you can see, it's a super long trip.

Anyway, when we arrived, it's not as cold as I expected but it's raining... :/

We walked 3 miles around the route.
We saw trees, fungi, and mosses.
The leader was super nice and enthusiastic.
She showed us cones and leaves from the trees.
She also showed us fungi, lichens, and mosses.
Oh and she told us to touch them :)
she also told us to bite one of the ferns. it tasted sweet hahaha!
It's a real hands on experience. love it!

And it's really beautiful in the forest. I saw all kinds of plants. I've never seen some of them before. Like there's one lichen; it's green on the top but pale at the bottom. They look like leaves. Super cool.

There were also some super super old trees! they're so huge and tall! I couldn't see the top of the tree!!! ok i'm exaggerating a little bit but it's really amazing!

But the whole field trip is like my battle against the rain. First, I just let my camera out and then wipe it dry with my tissue paper but it's too annoying so I ended up putting on my camera on my tripod covered with my rain jacket hoody. Super effective!!! So I'm just like carrying my tripod around on my shower with my camera covered with my rain jacket hoody.
But the only drawback is that my beanie got really soaked at the end...

got back at 5 pm at the same place we started and by that time i just wanted to go back to my room and dry up my clothes, shoes, jackets, bags, camera, and yeh... basically everything....

I took some photos but i'm not going to post them till i'm done with schoolwork, i broke too much promises already. so yeh, i'm sorry i've never posted my Mercer demolish photos, my Aliki beach photos.... :/

It's Friday

It doesn't feel like a Friday at all i feel like its Saturday or something
Cuz it's the first day of the three day weekend!

So thursday night was fun went to shoot some photos at a park near by with photography club people and went to M's house for hookah photos!
I did some hookah too. Taste great!

Then met with Melvin today to find out more about the second coming of the God
Really interesting.

And just had dinner with Frances at the Korean restaurant.
Had some talk with her. Had some catching up about our lives.

And going to field trip tomorrow from the morning till evening
I got my snacks and lunch ready! And it's sad that I have to wake up so early tomorrow cuz I have to go to bed early tonight which means I don't have more time to study :/
Hopefully it's going to be fun and worth it!

Still super busy. Have to study!
And post photos (hopefully... So sad I haven't been posting on Flickr for almost 2 months)

Oh and I'm going north to Shoreline next Monday to learn more about the Bible after class.

Alright then.

Nov 10, 2011

It's like Friday!

Lol totally skipped today's first class... Was too tired waking up at 7:30 when I went to bed at like 1:00 an
It's a guest lecture so I think it won't be that bad if I skip it... But it's totally a bad thing to do and I promise I will not do this if I went to bed earlier...
Man I hate morning classes.

So I'm done with classes for the week! Yay! It's weekend!! Three days weekend!

I'm going to meet with Melvin later for Bible study and going to meet up with my photography club people after that! It's been a while since I saw them! I'm so excited! We are going to a lot of interesting things this evening!

I'm now at the library studying math so I don't have to go back and forth from dorm to campus. it's easier for me to just meet with Melvin later.

Weekend!!!!

:D

finally! i'm here!!! yay!! i did it!
went to bed at like 5 something last night
oh and i think i received a call from a random woman at 5:49 am or something
when my phone rang for the first time, i was like who was calling me so late at night... so i ignored it...
but then my phone rang again... hmmm... something might be wrong so i decided to pick up the phone.
and then i heard this woman say something in Korean i believe and i was like "huh? no..."
and she sighed or something... and i hang up the phone

had a busy day! just went to my math professor's office hour, super helpful!
(i had questions about the range of matrix, and the bases of the range... etc)

chem midterm was ok but i ran out of time BUT our TA was super nice so he didn't tell us to turn it in when the bell rang. so i managed to finish my test but i answered one question sloppily.

still got a  lot of work and reading to catch up but i'm going to take a break for now
hmmm and no class on Friday! YES!!!

i'm going to biology class field trip this saturday. we are going to a mountain i think.

Nov 8, 2011

everything will be fine tomorrow

so i'm behind the reading for every class right now
but i managed to finish all the homework :)
anyway, i'll start to study for chem midterm after i'm done with bio homework due at 2:30 am

i can do it!! must hold on to my positivity for now!
omg i don't know if i can do it or not... D:
i'm so stressed....
and irritated....

i'm falling behind the schedule
i have chem midterm this wednesday
and i have so much reading and review to do for it
i have math homework due wednesday as well and i've only finished one half of it
and got bio practice exam.... which means i have to be familiar with the reading i haven't done yet....

feel like exploding

and now i have to go to bed because that stupid morning class at 8:30

ahhhhhh

Nov 7, 2011

my week started busy!

gotta love my busy day!! felt great to accomplish and finish so many stuff!
woke up, took a shower, dressed up, walked to class, picked up math midterm (i did pretty good i think, above average but not like super high score; i got 22/25),  had banana and called Kristina from airline company for plane ticket thing while walking to biology class (yes!!!!! i sat in the second row like a boss!!! LIKE A BOSS!!!), walked to organic chem class, had a brownie and a cookie, picked up my chem midterm (got 98/100, i think i'm super ok with that), walked to By George, had a sandwich, met with Melvin (remember last Tuesday? I met him on the Red Square), called Kristina and finally nailed the plane ticket thing.

oh and yes i started coughing recently and have nasal discharge with some blood in it. lol wtf....?

hmmm... and got like shit loads of reading and homework and study to do.... so much!!!
math homework due wednesday, chem midterm the same day.... ;(

gotta start focusing now!!!

cya!

Nov 6, 2011

weekend

haven't studied a lot since the weekend started
talked with my parents friday night
went shopping with Frances Saturday night at Northgate
also talked to my brother at Saturday night
so basically i went to bed pretty late for both nights and woke up pretty late during the day
so far my weekend has been relaxing (hopefully it's going to do my body good)

my body... hmmm... stomach is upset again and the sickness is getting better
but it has been two days since i started coughing.

studying now @@

Nov 5, 2011

lol i'm so funny; had my camera with me all day and ended up with no photo

finished my last midterm for the week
i think i didn't do really well on this biology midterm... i don't have enough time to finish all the questions :( oh well...
it's like the 150 anniversary of UW so we all wear purple i wear purple today as well
with that super cool shades i bought at the start of the school year
and yes, most of the "huskies" wear purple today
i looked really purple today with purple polo shirt, purple jacket, and purple shades.
but it's ridiculously funny that i brought my camera and lens with me today hoping that i could get some good footage of the UW day but as expected i didn't get anything at the end of the day...

anyway, everything went pretty smooth today and as usual after my last class i got back to my dorm and got back to my room and just stumbled up around the Internet

so it's finally weekend and i really have to relax a bit! it's been a really rough week for me so i DESERVE it! but just when i realized i really have to relax a bit i found out my sore throat is worsening again and feel like throwing up again D:
it's like when i finally get time to have fun, my body refuses me to have fun D:

fuuuuuuuu!!

oh and i got a full score on my bioengineering assignment. so happy! 25 out of 25. yay!

i'm going bed soon, super early for Friday night but whatever, i think my body need some rest...

talking to my parents now! ;)

feel like dying inside and "outside"

yes, outside means my physical body.

omg

what is happening to me.... ? D:

i suddenly felt so depressed last night... all alone in my room
and then i got a sore throat....
and then had a fever...
i woke up last night at like 1 or 2 shivering... i was so cold....
i got up still shivering and took 2 tylenol
got back to bed still shivering and fell asleep...

i set my alarm at 7:30 but changed it to 10:30 cuz i really needed more sleep...
so basically i skipped one class of bioengineering... they were having a guest lecture
hopefully attendance wasn't recorded.

and umm... i have to finish a paper for bioengineering class and i have biology midterm tomorrow....
i don't know if i can do it or not....
have been feeling depressed, messed up, tired since last night....

i feel like I'm going to mess up all my homework, my midterms, my readings, my friendship, and my life.... i feel like everyone is walking away from me....

no, i'm not fine...

Nov 2, 2011

super stormy out there!!

of course I'm feeling great now!!

today was totally unexpectedly smooth...

i went to bed super late like 5 am last night studying organic chem and math and biology.... and i was like "no no no no no, i'm totally going to get a stomachache tomorrow. how can i focus on midterms??"

but nothing major nor minor happened when i woke up, took a shower and dressed up super formal today cuz i was feeling formal today :P
and there went another day.

I think I did pretty well on both math and organic chemistry midterms.
I finished before time and checked my work several times ;)

anyway, i'm pretty done with the week. But as i flipped through my schedule, i'm clearly not done with the week yet....

i still have to do bioengineering problem solving class assignment... and there are unbelievable shit loads of readings for that class like at least 70 pages... @@

oh man, and still have to do math and chem reading though i'm just done with the midterms...

anyway, i'm feeling great right now! I just want to relax a bit before the third midterm this week.
and yes, i have to go to bed early tonight cuz i didn't have enough sleep last night and plus I got a morning class tomorrow.

cya!

Something I would like to point out

It's about the party last Saturday.
I felt totally awesome when dancing with my helmet on!
Because I'm free from judgement!
I'm the robot guy from LMFAO that does the cool shuffling. That's all! (and wearing a Nyan cat shirt)
I dont want to be that skinny Asian guy dancing alone on the dance floor or whatever...

I just felt free! And I danced with all kinds of moves came up in my mind without feeling awkward without feeling judged! It was great!!
Love Halloween!

- Posted using BlogPress from my iPhone
three midterms... two starting tomorrow!
study night!!

ummm... not much to talk about...

oh... wait there's one thing
when i'm having my spam fried rice and lemonade at the Red Square today...
two religious people came up to me and told me that people overlooked Jesus as the Mother.
he pointed out some part from the Bible while I was sipping my lemonade...
sometimes, he asked me questions and I don't know the answers cuz... you know... i've never studied the Bible since i'm not a religious person...
but i wanted to listen to what they think... it's interesting.

anyway... just read a news article about having a few strawberries before you drink can possibly reduce the chance of getting stomach inflammation. the study is so dear to my heart cuz i totally got gastritis this summer because of too much partying :P
though it's a research done on mice... but i mean it doesn't hurt to have a few strawberries before drinking in the future right? :D
